Metamorph is my journeyman piece: a quiet, ergonomic lounge chair that embraces change—its name reflects a design process that evolved from early sofa and table ideas into a reduced, purposeful form. Built primarily from solid ash with a warm oil finish, the chair celebrates honest construction through traditional joinery—bridle and mortise-and-tenon joints, selected through-tenons, and carefully shaped, flowing side frames. A curved, laminated backrest adds structural stiffness and comfort, finished with a full leather facing that softens the contact points. The seat is formed from a stitched leather sling, held in place by a clean brass rod detail—no visible hardware, just material, tension, and craft working together.
